Hershey - Pennsylvania
Milton Hershey envisioned a complete new community for his factory. He built a model town for his employees that included comfortable homes, an inexpensive public transportation system, a quality public school system and extensive recreational and cultural opportunities. Hershey avoided building a faceless company town with row houses. He wanted a "real home town" with tree-lined streets, single- and two-family brick houses, and manicured lawns. Today Hershey Pennsylvaina is a destination for many travelers visiting from countries around the world.
Hershey Park
Milton Hershey was concerned with providing adequate recreation and diversions for his employees, so he built Hershey Park that opened on April 24, 1907, and expanded rapidly over the next several years. Amusement rides, a swimming pool, and a ballroom were added. Soon, trolley cars and trains were bringing thousands of out-of-town visitors to the park. The park has grown tremendously since and today it has some of the best amusement rides in the Eastern USA. Millions of people visit the park every year.
Hotel Hershey
Milton Hershey built the stunning Hotel Hershey during the depression era. Against advice from others, he wanted to ensure people in his model town had work to support their families. Construction was completed in 1933. Since then there has been many additions that include the 20+ Acre Hershey Gardens, Golf Course, Swimming Pool, Grand Ballroom, New Wing, Several Restaurants, and the now famous Hershey Spa. There is a spectacular Circular Dining Room that features gourmet meals and incredible views. The staff is exceptional and the entire experience is highly recommended. The Hotel Hershey is recognized as one of the great resorts of North America, where guests can enjoy the spa, golf, tennis, indoor and outdoor swimming, cross-country skiing, tobogganing, lawn bowling, horseback riding, hiking, and much more..
Hershey Gardens
The Hershey Gardens today provide a beautiful and enjoyable stroll through some of the most decorative gardens around. It features more than 800 different varieties of Roses, with a total of more than 14,000 Roses on display annually. There are five theme gardens that include spectacular flowering displays, as well as a variety of specimen trees and shrubs.
