Original printer's plate manufactured by the L. Johnson & Co. Stereotype Foundry in Philadelphia, PA. The L. Johnson Foundry operated from 1843 until 1860. This huge plate measures 18 x 8 and has so far been identified to have only been used on Civil War Recruitment posters. The printer's plate is marked L. Johnson & Co., Copy-Right Secured. On the opposite end of the shield are the initials H.L.S. Any information that could be provided would be appreciated.
