Antique Improved Order of Red Men Printers Block

11 x 13.5 pica (1 13/16? x 2 ??)

This is most likely earlier than 1928. This fraternity traces its origins back to 1765, and is descended from the Sons of Liberty. After the War of 1812 the name was changed to the Society of Red Men and in 1834 to the Improved Order of Red Men. Electrotype copper face mounted on hardwood printers block.

Foundry Marking: Foundry stamp on one end by Barnhart Bros. and Spindler Type Foundry, 1868 ? 1929.
