The Great Seal of Maryland Fatti Maschii, Parole Femine

11 x 11 pica ( 1 13/16 x 1 13/16 inch )

The Great Seal of Maryland was adopted in 1876 by the General Assembly. The design of the seal goes back to the days of the original settlements in Maryland, and is based on the seal that was sent from England at that time. It shows a farmer, fisherman, a shield, and a coat of arms. The Maryland State motto: Fatti Maschii, Parole Femine translates to Manly Deeds, Womanly Words. Very old electrotype copper face mounted on hardwood.
